Actors Aren’t Encouraged To Give Their Opinions: Irrfan Khan

Actor Irrfan Khan has been acclaimed by people around the world as one of the best actors in film industry. The Jazbaa actor is undoubtedly a brilliant and unique actor, and has always raised his voice for what's right. Recently, Khan was asked if actors usually refrain from stating their opinions, owing to the nature of repercussions.

To this, the 50-year-old actor replied, “Yes, actors are soft targets. And they are not encouraged to give their opinions. Therefore, if you feel it might affect certain people, then you refrain from speaking up. But if it is helping a cause then maybe you would like to do it”.

Khan also believes that public figures can help bring a change by voicing their opinions to help raise awareness about social issues. “It would help for sure. That is why they are being shunned, because it doesn’t suit them (the opinion makers). An actor’s voice is a powerful one. It does help shape people’s opinions, but the opinion makers would not want another strong personality to counter them. So that’s why they are not encouraged”.

On a related note, Khan will soon be seen in Saket Chaudhary’s ‘Hindi Medium’. Scheduled for release on May 12, the flick also stars Saba Qamar in the lead role.
