    Akshay Kumar: I Didn’t Have Enough Money To Support Socially Relevant Cinema

    Akshay Kumar ’s latest film depicts the story of Arunachalam Muruganantham, who is a social entrepreneur. The film highlights the menstrual hygiene of woman and it has been made to spread awareness. The actor is very proud of his coming film Padman and said that he always wanted to support socially relevant cinema, but couldn’t due to lack of funds.



    At the promotion of the film, Akshay said, “I always wanted to work and make such films but I was not a producer during that time. I didn’t have enough money, but now I can. My wife told me about Arunachalam Muruganantham and then we met R. Balki. So we thought about making this movie”.



    The actor also highlighted that that there isn’t a single commercial film on sanitary napkins in Bollywood as well as in Hollywood. People are shy to discuss the topic in public. The film features Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte and is set to release on February 9 this year.
