    Aligarh Was A Very Challenging Film: Manoj Bajpayee

    Actor Manoj Bajpayee, the recipient of two National Film Awards and two Filmfare Awards will be seen playing the character of a gay professor in his forthcoming film, Aligarh. The actor who is receiving wider acclamation for donning such a role says that doing the film was very challenging for him. Aligarh, the Hansal Mehta directorial is a biographical film based on the real life incident of author and Dr. Srinivas Ramchandra Siras, who was suspended from his job because of his sexual orientation.

    The Gangs of Wasseypur actor, while talking about his character in the film, told media, “It's most challenging film because I have never done such a character before”. The actor who plays a protagonist in the film added, “Aligarh was a very challenging film for me because it was fragile and different. It was very difficult to capture the loneliness and state of mind of Ramchandra Siras”.

    It was Dr. Srinivas’s life which encouraged Manoj to do the film. The 46-year-old actor said, “The script, the character, his life which went unnoticed are a few points which grabbed my attention. I realised that its a great script and character and if I do it well, it will be an amazing milestone in my career. I feel that one will see many more films like Aligarh coming up in days to come”.  The movie is slated for a February 26 release and also stars actor Rajkummar Rao. He will be playing a journalist in the film.
