Arshad Warsi: I did Jolly LLB and started getting only solo films. I never wanted...

At a time when actors are striving hard to pursue solo projects to ensure that the success of the film rides on their shoulders; actor Arshad Warsi thinks otherwise. He has been part of numerous ensemble cast films and enjoys working in them.

“If you look at other actors, they want to do solo films. I think that you are not confident of yourself if you are constantly trying that. When you are doing an ensemble film, you should do your job and be happy that you are in the same frame with another fabulous actor,” says the actor, who has been part of films such as Golmaal(2006), Munnabhai MBBS (2003), Dedh Ishqiya (2014)and Guddu Rangeela (2015).

Arshad also points out the side effects of doing only solo films.

“The fact of the matter is that when you do a solo film and it becomes a hit, you will only get solo offers . I did Jolly LLB and started getting only solo film offers. I never wanted that and I never cared about it. For me, a sorted film, a nice director and producer is what matters and I am absolutely fine with having a lot of actors coming together in the film,” he says.

The actor has spoken at length about staying jobless for three years but he doesn’t want to talk about it anymore.

“Everyone knows that for three years of my life I didn’t have a job. After my first couple of successes at the
box-office, I did films that bombed but I don’t wish to glorify that time of my life,” he says.
