Baahubali: The Conclusion, and its predecessor, will go down as pathbreaking films in Indian cinema. Not only have they pushed the boundaries of storytelling in an industry that is still very star-driven, they have also helped bridge the gap between our movies, and the ones we’ve always looked up to - the big, epic fantasy blockbusters made in Hollywood.

At least in terms of scale and the sheer technical wizardry involved, the Baahubali saga remains unmatched in India. We’ve never seen spectacle like this put on our screens - especially when Indian actors are involved.

The two films cost a combined total of Rs 250 crore (around $40 million). While this is usually what a mid-budget Hollywood film would cost, its budget pales in comparison to those of the films that inspired it. The first film made Rs 650 crore ($100 million) at the box office, a slight number in comparison to some of the titles below - even the notorious flops.

But it still captured the grandeur on a fraction of the budget.

While all these visually illustrated epic big screen bonanzas make a heavy in a studio's production budget, Rajamouli and team have achieved something special with Baahubali.

If this is what they can achieve with such a low cost, give Rajamouli a Hollywood like budget and witness the unimaginable!
