Box Office Report: Bangistan, Jaanisaar Fail to Impress Audiences

Riteish Deshmukh, Pulkit Samrat and Chandan Roy Sanyal Starrer Bangistan created quite a buzz with the film being banned in UAE and Pakistan. Despite being prominently in the news for past week, the comedy satire film failed to strike the right chords with the audiences. The Karan Anshuman directorial could only manage to mint Rs. 3.77 crores in the first weekend, collecting Rs. 1 crore on Friday, Rs. 1.3 crores on Saturday and Rs. 3.77 crores on Sunday.

The other release of the weekend was Jaanisaar starring Javed Siddiqui, Shama Zaidi and Muzaffar Ali. Despite being marketed as “From the maker of Umrao Jaan”, the film washed out at the box office. Perhaps, the flick lacked identification for any kind of audience.

On the other hand, Ajay Devgn starrer Drishyam, the fourth remake of Malayalam flick of same name, did quite a fare business for the weekend. The film minted Rs. 2.75 crores on Friday, Rs. 4.05 crores on Saturday and Rs. 5.04 crores on Sunday. By far, the film has minted Rs. 58.12 crores.
