CBFC asks Anurag to cut and edit scenes in Bombay Velvet

CBFC asks Anurag to cut and edit scenes in Bombay Velvet

The Central Board for Film Certification has shot down Anurag Kashyap’s request for UA certification for his latest project Bombay Velvet. The movie, which is slated for release on May 15, features Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles. The members of the CBFC watched the film last week and decided against granting the movie a UA certification.

"The Board asked for several cuts, including the deletion of certain cuss words like `son of a bitch'. They also wanted some violent sequences toned down. And many members of the Examining Committee (EC) agreed that given its theme, the crime saga is more suited for adult viewing", a source told Mumbai Mirror.

The filmmakers will now take their plea to the Revising Committee. "There is absolutely nothing in the film that warrants an `A' certificate. We are going to Revising Committee”, Anurag Kashyap told Mumbai Mirror. "No hungama happened, we just didn't agree with the cuts the Board asked for. I have more faith in the CBFC's Revising Committee. Let's see how it goes”, he added.
