Film-maker Sanjay Leela Bhansali managed a casting coup of sorts when he got Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone to star together in his next, Bajirao Mastani. ‘Pinga’, a song from the film’s soundtrack that released recently, features the two actors, dressed in identical costumes.

Choreographed by Remo D’Souza and shot in the grand signature Bhansali style, the folk song has drawn comparisons with ‘Dola re’, a track from the film-maker’s 2002 film, Devdas, which featured Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit Nene. Perhaps because of rehearsing together for weeks, Deepika and Priyanka’s chemistry is clearly visible in the song. Ranveer Singh, who plays the male lead in the film, is mesmerised by the number, and is impressed with the way the two have synchronised their moves.

“When Mr Bhansali first mentioned the concept of shooting a combined dance number with Priyanka and Deepika, I was most excited because they are two of the most accomplished dancers that we have in the industry today. When I saw the song, my jaw dropped to the floor. Such perfection in synchronised dance is unprecedented. The credit goes to the two ladies who put in their best to make the song visually and emotionally brilliant,” says Ranveer.

Eros International and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani will release on December 18, 2015.
