Diljit Dosanjh receives coin of honour from Canadian Minister of Defense

Diljit Dosanjh was presented with Canada’s Minister of National Defence Harjit Sajjan’s personal coin of honour on the sets of Rising Star. The singer-actor, who judges the singing reality show, took to Facebook to share pictures from the big day.

“Honorable Harjit Singh Sajjan ji Defense Minister of Canada presented me with his personal Minister of National Defense Coin of Honor given for excellence,” he wrote in the post. He even shared Sajjan’s words to him as he gave him the coin: “It’s good to get rewards for your hard work but what is more important is what you give back to society.”

“I will keep this with respect and pride and hope am able to live up to such respect,” he wrote.

He even praised Sajjan for being an inspiration. “His journey is an inspiration to our youth. We have so much to learn from him anything can be achieved with dedication, conviction and pure intentions,” he added.

Bannet Dosanjh was crowned the winner of the first season of Rising Star on Sunday. He defeated the other finalist, Maithili Thakur, by just two votes. Diljit judges the show with Shankar Mahadevan and Monali Thakur.

Having enjoyed his success in Bollywood with Phillauri and Udta Punjab, Diljit is now gearing up for his tour in Canada and his upcoming film Super Singh which will release on July 16.
