The James Van directed fast paced action thriller has proved out to be an edge of the seat experience for audiences and they have given a thumbs up to that. The film that released mid-week on Thursday collected a whooping Rs. 12.5 crores on the first day and followed it up with another 12 on Friday. The next two days saw equal acceleration and the film went past the Rs. 50 crore mark quite easily. The emotional tribute to Paul Walker and a high octane treatment has made the critics go with the audiences to rate it high as well.

On the other hand, Yashraj’s Detective Byomkesh Bakshy seems to fallen victim to the Furious 7 wave. While the unconventional entertainer wasn’t expected to take the box office by storm, the final results have still remained low. The film opened to Rs. 4.20 crores on Friday and collected Rs. 4.50 crores on Saturday. Sunday saw some acceleration and the witnessed a growth with a collection of Rs. 5.36 crores. The Dibaker Banerjee directorial now stands with a collection of Rs. 14.06 crores.

Considering the restricted appeal and no major star value of the film, though the collections seem to be ok, but a Yash Raj release with such a heavy promotion was tipped to open much higher. The weekdays would now determine the fate of the film since it would have to sustain well. The Sushant Singh Rajput starrer has been greeted with some good reviews by the critics and the makers would hope the audience starts maintaining the numbers high. At the moment, the ticket counters are going crazy with Furious 7 all the way.
