Gauahar Khan will return to TV only if she gets to play the protagonist

Gauahar Khan has appeared on quite a few shows on TV in the past, but now, she’s put some conditions before she makes a comeback on the tube. The 33-year-old who’s been part of reality shows such as Big Boss (Season 7, 2013), The Khan Sisters and Khatron Ke Khiladi (2014), wishes to do more meaningful roles. “Right now, the shows being offered to me are either mythological or intense soaps. They have similar stories, and no role so far has got me excited. I would love to do fictional shows, but the content needs to be good. If there’s a good intense drama or a romantic show, I will definitely take it up,” says Gauahar.

It’s not just the good content that’s a prerequisite for Gauahar to do TV shows. She adds, “It has to be a lead role. I don’t think I can do any other role in any given show, and the lead characters get the strongest roles written for them.”

However, the Pune-born actor, who will be soon seen in a film starring Vidya Balan, wants to still work in the TV industry. “ I think I’m still a TV personality. All the fame has come through my stint on small screen, and I still want to work in that space. In fact, not just TV, I want to work in every possible medium. I just want to focus on good work and then I don’t care about the rest,” says Gauahar.

Recounting her early days in the industry, she recalls, “When I was new here, people used to tell me,’You don’t have a face to become an actor.’ But now, some amazing filmmakers have offered me roles, saying that they wrote it while thinking of me, When a director tells you that, it means you are a good actor,” concludes Gauahar.
