Houston Mayor Declares August 7 as Anupam Kher Day

Anumpam Kher’s 'Mera Woh Matlab Nahi Tha' is one of the most commendable plays for sure. Not only the play has been loved in India but also it has impressed the audiences in Houston. After the A Wednesday actor performed the play in Houston on August 7, the Mayor, Annise Parker commended the actor’s commitment for providing quality entertainment to the community and, thus, declared August 7 as Anupam Kher Day. On popular demand, the film will have another screening in Houston on September 4.

On being asked, what 'Mera Woh Matlab Nahi Tha' means to him, Anupam Kher told missmalini.com, “It is a saying used more often than not by people every day. When I heard the title of the play, I knew I was already going to do it. To me, it seems that men tend to use it more often than women. Perhaps men are less able to express themselves and use more excuses!”. He also said that he doesn’t use the title phrase so often, “ I am usually clear in what I have to say, and rarely use the phrase”.

Anupam Kher is happy that various celebrities and people have liked the play. He said, “It makes me feel great. You can rope in audiences on the first night through previous credentials, but it is the play that keeps audiences coming back after that”.
