Inconsistent work compels B.A. Pass actress Shikha Joshi to commit suicide

Model-turned-actress Shikha Joshi (40) committed suicide on Saturday evening at her MHADA flat in Andheri West. The actress slit her throat open using a kitchen knife that has been seized by the police. Her inconsistent work led her to take her own life out of frustration. She had worked in critically acclaimed 2013 Bollywood film B.A. Pass and had done small roles in television projects as well.

Reports are that the police have registered an accidental death case at Versova police station. DCP Satya Narayan Choudhary stated, “The incident took place at around 6 pm. Joshi would stay in the flat with her friend. She went into the bathroom and slit her throat open using a sharp object. When she did not open the door for a long time, her friend knocked on the door and Joshi opened it. However, she collapsed immediately due to excessive bleeding”. She was then taken to Kokilaben Hospital where doctors declared her dead.

Senior police inspector Ravindranath Pawar said, "We have not found any suicide note... She was staying with her friend, Madhu Bharti, whose statement is being recorded”.  On 30 October, 2011, Joshi and her brother had pelted stones at the residence of cosmetic surgeon Dr. Vijay Sharma in Andheri after he denied them entry into the clinic. Before anything could be done against them, the actress had filed a molestation case against the doctor in the same year. Later, on 10 November 2013, Joshi and her brother were arrested by Amboli police for their act.
