    Karan Johar set to remake Tamil action-drama Vettai

    After the huge success of his last hits Student of the Year and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, producer-filmmaker Karan Johar is geared up to co-produce 2012’s Tamilaction venture Vettai. The director looked quite impressed seeing the original one and at once decided to be a part of it, “I was very impressed with 'Vettai' when I watched it, but I didn't know UTV was involved in it. I have now partnered with them for the Hindi remake. We will soon announce the name of a youngactor, who will fill the slot of a true-blue action star.”

    Vettai is a mix of action and drama written and directed by N. Linguswamy. The movie featured Arya, R. Madhavan, Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul in the lead. The film is about two brothersThirumurthy played by R. Madhavan and Gurumurthy portrayed by Arya. Thirumurthy is the elder one and is sensitive and stays away from violence while the younger is an unemployed person. Their father, who was a police officer, dies and then on his elder brother takes on the same job.

    Karan has assured of the film to be a great entertainer, "The film will have a lot of heroism, humour and great scope for music. It's going to be a commercial potboiler and one of the few films with a pan-India appeal." Meanwhile, the41-year-old producer is discussing on actors as well as directors but nothing is finalized yet, "We are in discussion with a couple of directors and actors. Things should be finalized sooner rather than later."
