Ketan Mehta to Donate Manjhi’s profits to His Village
Not only people who have watched the trailer of Manjhi has developed a soft corner for Dashrath Manjhi, but also the director of the biopic. Recently, Ketan Mehta confessed that he will donate some share of profits to Dashrath Manjhi’s village Gehlaur in Bihar. The director also said that he is overwhelmed by the response Manjhi’s trailer has received.
At the screening of Drishyam, Ketan said, “Definitely a percentage of the profits will go to the village (Gehlaur)”. He added, “The response has been overwhelming. Nawaz is being liked immensely. The surprise with Manjhi film though has been that the youth have suddenly and surprisingly connected with the film. People have gone and watched the promo on YouTube and the response has been encouraging and enthusiastic”.
The film is based on the life of Dashrath Manjhi, who carved a path through a mountain just by using a hammer and chisel. The film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika Apte in lead role. The film is slated to release on August 21.
