Kirti Kulhari Signed In To Play A Protagonist In Indu Sarkar

You must have always seen actress Kirti Kulhari being a part of an ensemble cast. But this time you may get to see her playing the central character. The actress who has been a part of films like Pink and Shaitan has been approached by National Film Award-winning filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar to play the lead in his upcoming film Indu Sarkar. Kirti plays a poetess in the movie who stammers. The flick is set in the 1980s.

"The process of building a character is so magical that I cannot explain in words. In this film, while going through the understanding of my character, I realised how stammering is going to be an important part." She added, "So, I started analysing how stammering can create a difference in her personality, her confidence level, social acceptance and emotional expression, among other things."

To manage the authenticity of the character, the 31-year-old actress visited a speech therapist and observed many patients who were suffering from the condition. She said that meeting a speech therapist and observing the patients helped her as she could include all that in her performance. Since the movie is set in 1985’s, therefore the filmmakers have taken care of everything from clothes to the shades of lipstick.
