Ketan Mehta’s upcoming biopic based on an ordinary man, who did something extraordinary, has been declared to go tax free in Bihar. The state government has announced that no entertainment tax would be levied on Manjhi: The Mountain Man across Bihar. The biopic is based on the life of Dashrath Manjhi, a poor labourer, who carved a path through a mountain in 22 years, using only a hammer and a chisel.

The decision came after the meeting of state cabinet, which was headed by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Shishir Kumar Sinha, Principal Secretary of Cabinet Coordination Department told PTI, “The cabinet said the movie is based on the life of real hero Manjhi, whose inspirational story tells that a person can do the biggest work with determination even when resources are scarce. It encourages the viewers to see human life in the right perspective and inspires them, as well as, the society”.

The film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Dashrath Manjhi and Radhika Apte as Dashrath’s wife. The flick is scheduled to hit the theatres on August 21. Recently, Ketan Mehta also said that he would donate a share of flick’s profit to Manjhi’s village in Bihar, Gehlaur.
