Meghna Gulzar Is Ahead Of Time

Meghna Gulzar is known for her out of the box thinking, which was showcased in Filhaal..., a film about surrogacy. It was released back in 2002 and did not do commercially well, though it was appreciated by the audiences. Meghna said her basic, “attempt is always to do something relevant and contemporary”.

In an interview, the director told IANS, “'Filhaal...', even though it was appreciated, didn't do very well commercially. Back then, people had said, and even continue to say, that had 'Filhaal...' been released now, it would have made more sense. Yes, it was ahead of its time. But I am fine with that. I would rather be that than be outdated”.

She feels that the Indian cinema is at a great level in accordance with the films that are being made. Her work will be seen in the upcoming film Talvar, starring Irfan Khan and Konkona Sen Sharma. Meghna is the daughter of celebrated writer-director Gulzar and veteran actress Rakhee.
