Mersal’s first single Aalaporan Tamizhan will be out on August 10

Get ready for some AR Rahman magic as the first single from his highly anticipated Mersal album will be released tomorrow (August 10). In an official poster, which gives away a glimpse of the third Vijay’s character from the film, the makers made the announcement on Wednesday about the first single launch. The film’s audio launch will take place on August 20 in a grand function in Chennai’s Nehru Stadium, and Rahman, the double Oscar-winning composer is most likely to perform at the audio launch, according to a reliable source. While Rahman hasn’t given his final nod yet, the team is hopeful of convincing him to perform at the event.

Mersal features Vijay in a triple role. He will be seen as a panchayat head, a doctor and a magician. In the role of the magician, Vijay’s comic sense will be brought forth on screen. Three posters from the film have been released so far. The third poster was released on Wednesday and it features Vijay playing Holi, in a celebratory mood.

In the first poster which was unveiled a while back, Vijay is portrayed as the panchayat head and he sports a twirled mustache. This portion is believed to be shot in the 1980s. There is also Jallikattu reference in the poster and it is believed that the film may address the whole controversy surrounding Jallikattu row in Tamil Nadu. In the second poster, Vijay can be seen as a magician and he is believed to have learnt the art of magic for this role.

Bankrolled by Sri Thenandal Studios, Mersal stars Kajal Aggarwal, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Nithya Menen as Vijay’s love interests. Actor-filmmaker SJ Suryah is playing the antagonist and since his terrific performance in last year’s Iraivi, audiences are keenly looking forward to see him lock horns with Vijay. The film, directed by Atlee, is gearing up for grand release this Diwali.
