This Actress Has Replaced Deepika Padukone And Kangana Ranaut In Majid Majidi’s Beyond The Clouds!

Malavika Mohanan, daughter of notable cinematographer KU Mohanan, has mainly featured in few Malayalam films. She made her cinematic debut opposite Dulquer Salmaan in Pattam Pole, followed by other Malayalam films.  She later forayed to Kannada cinema with Naanu Mattu Varalakshmi. The actress rose to fame with The Great Father and now it looks like; Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi was totally stunned by her performance that he has roped her in as the leading lady for Beyond The Clouds.

During an interview with the Deccan Chronicle, Malavika says, “It is definitely a great opportunity to have bagged this project. At this point, I wouldn’t be able to reveal anything about my character, except that I was signed on for the role that Deepika initially auditioned for. I have already started shooting for the film in Mumbai.”

However, the film was in headlines when actress Deepika Padukone gave a look test and later, her pictures from the sets went viral. If reports to be trusted, filmmaker wasn’t satisfied and he started searching for a potential replacement. That’s when Malavika came into the picture. However, this film will mark Malavika’s international debut. Fascinatingly, this film will also mark Shahid Kapoor’s brother Ishaan Khatter’s cinematic debut.
