Opening Weekend Box Office Collection: Airlift VS Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3

It was porn-com versus action-thriller this weekend at the box office and it seems that Akshay Kumar starrer Airlift has clearly won the race. While Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3 has minted Rs. 20.15 crores in three days, Airlift, which also starred Nimrat Kaur has collected over Rs. 44 crores in the opening weekend. The flick, which was based on the evacuation of Indians during the 1990 invasion of Kuwait by Iraq, has been applauded by critics as well as audiences.

Airlift minted Rs. 12.35 crores on Friday, Rs. 14.60 crores on Saturday and Rs. 17.35 crores on Sunday, which makes a total collection of Rs. 44.30 crores. Akshay Kumar is extremely happy with the response his flick has received. He wrote on Twitter, “I don't know how to Thank You all for every ounce of all ur Love & Support for #Airlift, feeling extremely humbled”. The IMDB rating for the film is 9.5/10, which is fabulous.

On the other side, Kya Kool Hai Hum, which starred Tusshar Kapoor, Aftab Shivdasani and Mandana Karimi in lead roles, collected Rs. 8.15 crores on Friday. The film’s collection declined on Saturday and it grossed Rs. 5.50 crores. On Sunday, the movie minted Rs. 6.50 crores, which makes a total collection of Rs. 20.15 crores.
