Skin colour is sadly given more substance in India. Dark-skinned women are often under-represented and underestimated in film and TV. The Quantico actor, who has a dusky complexion, is among the 41 women of colour to be listed by Allure magazine in its April issue. Wow, another feather in her cap!

This special issue features 41 women of colour who rejoice diversity and share their stories of hardships and victories. PC also opened about the issues she had to go through because of her darker complexion. Talking about diversity and the politics of skin colour in beauty, Priyanka was cited saying, “(My skin) is as complicated as I am. When I was growing up, I didn’t see anyone on television who looked like me. Initially companies didn’t have colours that matched Asian or Indian skin.”

It’s high time we fade from this fascination with skin colour. On the professional front, Priyanka will be seen in Baywatch as Victoria Leeds. The film, which is adapted from the popular 1990s TV series Baywatch, also features Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron.
