Priyanka Chopra To Turn Rabindranath Tagore’s Love Story Into A Film

Priyanka Chopra’s last Hindi movie was Jai Gangaajal which released last year. She is currently creating waves in Hollywood. Although she may not have been seen in Hindi cinema for about a year but the actress has not left her roots. She keeps coming to India and is pretty active doing her bits here.

If not acting, the 34-year-old is busy producing movies for regional cinema. She debuted as a producer with Bam Bam Bol Raha Kashi in Bhojpuri after which she went on to produce a Marathi film Ventilator which went on to win a National Award. Not only these, she went ahead of exploring other regions and produced a Punjabi film Sarvann. She is currently awaiting the release of her Sikkimese film with Pahuna and Goan film with Little Joe.

And now she is moving towards Bengali cinema by producing a movie based on the life of celebrated Bengali Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore.  Now if you are wondering that the film will show all that you have read in the past, then you are wrong. The flick will be based on his love story. The movie will focus on the time when he was 17 years and was staying with Dr Atmaram Pandurang Turkhud at his Mumbai-home. Since the young Tagore was fond of learning English, therefore he was taught by Turkhud’s daughter Annapurna, 20, who had just returned from England and was well versed in the language. While learning English the teenage Tagore fell in love with Annapurna and therefore an intimacy developed between the teacher and her young student. He also gave her the name Nalini on Annapurna’s insistency. But it seemed that they were not destined to be together as Tagore’s father did not approve of the relationship. After their relationship ended, Annapurna married a Scot, Harold Littledale, and left for England with him.

The makers are yet to finalise the cast of the film. If everything goes well, the movie will go on floors by October this year.
