Rajinikanth's 2.O postponed to January 2018, Vijay may get Diwali release date

The makers of Superstar Rajinikanth’s 2.O on Friday night made a shocking announcement that they have postponed the release date from Diwali 2017 to January 25, 2018, paving way to producers of Tamil star Vijay’s upcoming action entertainer to advance its release date to Diwali.

Though an exact release date of the Vijay starrer is yet to be revealed, trade sources hint that the actor prefers Diwali as he has given many hits in the festival season, which includes his two 100cr grossers—Kaththi and Thuppakki.

“Atlee and Vijay are aware of 2.O’s postponement and they waited for the official announcement. In fact, the entire team has been working for Diwali release”, said a source close to the team. The film’s director Atlee says that he is planning to release the first look poster on Vijay’s birthday (June 22) and a grand audio launch will be happening in August.

AR Rahman is composing the music for the film and as of now, he is said to have delivered one song. Fondly called as Thalapathy 61 by the actor’s fans, Atlee is yet to announce the title of the film.

Vijay is said to be playing triple roles in the film, which also has three heroines—Nithya Menon, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Kajal Aggarwal.
