Ranveer Singh To Play A Rapper In Zoya Akhtar’s Next?

The forthcoming Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film, ‘Padmavati’, crafts countless headlines for the carefree actor, Ranveer Singh. But, he is lately in the reports for a distinct film. It was recently stated that Ranveer has been roped in by Zoya Akhtar for her next. Rumours are now doing the rounds that the ‘Lootera’ actor will essay the role of a city-based rapper Naezy in this impending flick. 

Zoya’s next is apparently based on the life of this street rapper. Asal Hustle rapper, Naezy, whose real name is Naved Sheikh told PTI, “He (Ranveer Singh) is doing the film, it is almost confirmed. But still there are few things which are yet to be finalised, writing is underway. Ranveer also listens to hip-hop. He knows what real hip-hop is. We spoke to him and he is also very excited regarding this. He will enjoy this (role) too. I had done a Bollywood track called ‘Birju’ on which he lip synced and was in my get up. He was rapping like me.”

Ranveer is a perky actor. The idea of watching this 31-year-old actor as a rapper is exceptionally riveting. Naezy talks about Ranveer, “He was rapping like me. He listens to all our music. He is a very versatile actor. He can be a Bajirao and a rapper too.” The title for this flick is yet not finalized, but it is anticipated that the project will be named as ‘Gully Boy’.
