Richa Chadha is a risk-taker and doesn't mind being stereotyped

Unlike many actors, who would get worked up when they are labelled with tags like offbeat, serious, non-commercial etc, actor Richa Chadha is fine with it. The actor, who is excited for her upcoming international project, Love Sonia, says she has become immune to this continuous stereotyping.

“I feel anybody who takes the road less trodden will be called offbeat or unconventional and it’s not stereotyping that I mind. I would like to be seen as somebody who loves to take risk with her career and is versatile,” says the actor adding that the only thing that tires her is getting repetitive parts.

Richa attended the red carpet at the 68th Cannes Film Festival in France (2015) when she had gone there for the screening of Indian-French film Masaan. On being asked if success in the West gives Indian actors more creative satisfaction than working in Hindi films, Richa says, “Working in India is always a joy. One always welcomes recognition, whether it’s here or abroad. I don’t think there’s a difference, but the desire to be appreciated in your own country is always heartening,” shares the actor who has been part of critically acclaimed films such as Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), Fukrey (2013), and Sarbjit (2016).

Considering the fact that Richa has been to various film festivals abroad, it’s only obvious to draw comparisons with the award functions and film festivals that happen in India. “Indian film award functions cater to a different audience, and that’s why they are more TRP driven and follow an unchanging format. Still, I won’t prefer to compare these two same.”
