Starring heartthrob of Bollywood Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, Shaandaar, which sought extensive promotions by the lead actors had literally taken over the town. Also, being directed by Vikas Bahl of Queen fame, the film was garnering all the attention of the audiences. But unexpectedly, the film failed to strike the right chords with the audiences and didn’t turn out to be as Shaandaar as it promised to be.

The romantic-comedy drama film has minted Rs 33.51 crores over the weekend. The film released on the Dussehra, which was a holiday and hence benefitting from the festival it minted Rs. 13.10 crores on Thursday. On Friday, the collection of the film declined to Rs. 7. 55 crores. The collection further dipped on Saturday and Sunday. The film minted Rs. 6.75 crores and Rs. 6.11 crore respectively, which makes the total collection of the film after four days as Rs. 33.51 crores.

“The film dipped again on Saturday and Sunday. We expected the film to pick up on Sunday, but the India-South Africa match hampered it. With no other big release, we expect the film to pick up this week and have a better run over the week”, said exhibitor and distributor Akshaye Rathi.
