Shamitabh mints 14 crores in opening weekend

Having opened to fairly positive word of mouth but low occupancy, R. Balki’s Shamitabh showed a decent growth over the weekend. The film has been able to sail past the 10 crore mark quite easily.

The Big B-Dhanush starrer collected 3.5 crores on Friday, 4.75 crores on Saturday and almost 6 crores on Sunday. The film now stands at a total of about 14 crores. Considering the kind of genre and style, the numbers are not bad at all. It will be interesting to see if the film carries the form in weekdays and holds well. The film has mostly generated positive reviews but the highlight have been the performances. From Big B to Dhanush to Akshara, the performances have been spot on.
