Shamitabh opens to decent reviews but low occupancy

The much in the news Balki directorial Shamitabh released today. With great amount of creative investment going into the making of this film, it was clear the reviews would be positive but the opening numbers aren’t too strong.

The film has opened fairly well in the multiplexes and may see some acceleration towards the evening shows. It was clear from the very outset that the film would only appeal to niche audiences and that’s what the film appears to be. The first set of verdicts have considered the film to be a good one but to a limited genre of audiences. Let’s see if the word of mouth translates into some good numbers by the weekend. By the way, both Big B and Dhanush have been reported to be exceptionally good.
