'Someone Joked If I Can Get National Award For Hum Tum, It's Okay For Akshay Kumar To Win', Says Saif Ali Khan

While some Bollywood fans were extremely delighted when Akshay Kumar won the National Award for Best Actor for ‘Rustom’, a few were left disappointed. The victory created a big discussion on social media on whether the Welcome actor deserved or didn’t deserve the award. Well, the same had happened years ago when Saif Ali Khan won the Best Actor National Film Award for ‘Hum Tum’.

Recently, during a media interaction, Saif was quizzed about the controversy. The Tashan actor stated, “There has been an uproar about Akshay's win at the National Awards. Someone joked if I can get National Award for Hum Tum, it's okay for Akshay Kumar to win. A lot of people actually think I won for Omkara, not Hum Tum. I take a little offence when people joke about my National Award win”.

Touching upon people returning their award, Saif stated, “People have been saying that I should give my award back but I don’t agree with that. If someone is unhappy with the institution and wants to return his or her award, it’s great. Maybe it was a publicity thing… I honestly don’t know”.

Well, Saif has always remained unfazed and unaffected by controversies. On a related note, the actor will be seen in Raja Krishna Menon's ‘Chef’, which is a remake of Jon Favreau's Hollywood film of the same name.
