Sonakshi Sinha to essay heavyweight champ’s role in Thuppaki remake

Beautiful Sonakshi Sinha, who is being criticized for doing repetitive roles in her films, will play a heavyweight champion in Hindi remake of AR Murugadoss’s recent Tamil blockbusterThuppaki.According to sources,whileAkshay Kumar was always going to play the role of the male lead, many names were doing the rounds for the female lead but now Sonakshi has been finalized for the role as the makers wanted the heroine to look like a boxer, and whose attitude can match Akshay's.

An insider says that while "Parineeti was in talks for the role, Diana and Kajal were not very high on the makers' priority list. Sonakshi was always on Murugadoss's mind. The idea was to cast a girl who can match Akshay's machismo with an unapologetic attitude. And she has proved she can do that with theDabanggseries." The source added, "The casting was Murugadoss's call. Akshay is friends with Sonakshi and her family, but he has been too busy withKhiladi 786and the shooting of Boss to participate in these decisions".
