Sonam Kapoor’s Neerja Banned In Pakistan

Before Sonam Kapoor starrer Neerja could be submitted to the censor board of Pakistan, the film has already been banned in the country. It is alleged that the film shows Pakistan in bad light and hence its release has been revoked. Neerja was slated to release on February 19.

According to the commerce ministry of Pakistan the movie shows the country in poor light. Further, executive director of IMGC, Abid Rasheed, says that the film has certain anti-Pakistan elements. “This might not have gone down well with local audiences”, he said.

Neerja is a biographical film based on the hijacking of Pan Am Flight 73 in Karachi. The film focuses on how flight attendant Neerja Bhanot fought for saving the lives of the passengers. Helmed by Ram Madhvani, the movie also stars Shabana Azmi and Shekhar Ravjiani in pivotal roles.
