The Baahubali effect: Movie-inspired food menus at Indian restaurants abroad?

From saris to jewellery, all kinds of products have been inspired by the two epic Baahubali movies (directed by SS Rajamouli; starring Prabhas as Baahubali, and Rana Daggubati as Ballaladeva). Could food be far behind? Now there’s news that Indian restaurants abroad have come up with food menus inspired by the Baahubali movies.

If a picture circulating on social media is authentic, then this restaurant is offering food combos themed on the characters of the Baahubali films. Some of them read: Bhallaladeva Chicken Biryani - Chilli Fish, Bahubali Mutton Biryani - Chicken Lollipop, Avanthika Veg Fried Rice - Mushroom Pepper Fry; and Devasena Chapati - Egg Masala. There’s also Bahubali Dosa, Kabali Parota and Katapa Dosa. (Kabali is a movie character, but not from the Baahubali films.)

The menu has been printed on the poster of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and states that the movie is in theatres now.

Another photograph of a menu, titled Bahubali Maha Buffet and probably from an Indian restaurant in the US, has even more options. This includes Avanthika Aloo Gobi Fry, Bahubali Chicken 65 and Kalakeya Chilli Chicken.

After this sumptuous buffet, one can look out for Mahismathi Mithais, too. In case you haven’t watched the movie, Mahismathi is the mighty kingdom for which Ballaladeva conspires against Baahubali.

Probably the Indian diaspora can’t get enough of Baahubali!
