    Vidya Balan’s 'Begum Jaan' Declared Tax-Free In Jharkhand

    Srijit Mukherji’s ‘Begum Jaan’ starring Vidya Balan is undoubtedly going to be yet another women-centric movie with a powerful message for the viewers. The movie is slated for release on April 14 and Bollywood fans are eagerly looking forward to the period drama ever since its trailer was first released. According to recent reports, Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Raghubar Das, has declared the film set in the pre-Partition era tax-free in the state.

    Srijit took to Twitter to share the news. He wrote, “Delighted to announce that 'Begum Jaan' has been declared tax free in Jharkhand and has also been given a subsidy of 2 cr under the Government Policy of Promotion of Jharkhand as a Film Destination”. Most of the movie's shooting has been done in Jharkhand. In addition, the flick’s producer Mahesh Bhatt also expressed his glee on social media. He wrote, “Thank you Jharkhand! Thank you Raghubar Das Ji! Your support to our film 'Begum Jaan' has made a great difference. Thank you! @dasraghubar”.

    On a related note, the movie stars Ila Arun, Gauahar Khan, Pallavi Sharda, Chunky Pandey and Naseeruddin Shah among others. The music for the film has been rendered by Anu Malik. Loosely based on Shyam Benegal's (Mandi’ (1986), ‘Begum Jaan’ is a Hindi remake of the Bengali film ‘Rajkahini’ (2015).
