Vidya Balan’s ‘Begum Jaan’ Might Not Release In Pakistan!

Vidya is totally slaying it with her bold avatar as a badass Begum. However, the actress is being lauded for her representation as a madam of a brothel in the 'Begum Jaan' trailer that literally broke the internet early this month, thereby crossing 20 million views over a week’s span. The film, which is a remake of the Bengali film 'Rajkahini', is set against the backdrop of the India-Pakistan partition. Well, the recent update is that the film might have difficulty releasing in Pakistan, or it might not even premier at all.

If reports are anything to go by, ‘Begum Jaan’ might not be granted Pakistan debut because of the plot it underlines. It is alleged that, the producer of the film, Mahesh Bhatt has shown his concern to the Pakistan government, requesting to release the film in the country. However, a reply is awaited. This news isn’t shocking to us as Pakistan officials often restrict the debut of films that represent the country in negative light, and 'Begum Jaan' just became a victim like 'Raees', 'Jolly LLB', 'Neerja' ,the other few films which were not released in Pakistan.

Speculations are rife that the present scenario between the two nations might be one of the reasons of the film being abstained from debut in Pakistan. ‘Begum Jaan’ stars Naseeruddin Shah, Gauahar Khan, Pallavi Sharda, Ila Arun, Chunky Pandey. Helmed by Srijit Mukherji, 'Begum Jaan' is set for April 14 premiere.
