Vijay-Atlee film inspired from Moondru Mugam and Apoorva Sagodharargal?

Director Atlee has the knack of turning wafer-thin story into an engaging watch with racy screenplay. Though the director’s Raja Rani and Theri were criticized for their heavy inspiration from Mani Ratnam’s Mouna Ragam and Sathriyan (written by Mani, directed by Subaash), both the films were declared blockbusters.

Now, sources inform us that Atlee’s new film with Ilaiyathalapathy is a revenge story with traces of Rajinikanth’s Moondru Mugam and Kamal Haasan’s Apoorva Sagodharargal. “The template is similar to Moondru Mugam and Apoorva Sagodharargal, but the treatment will be stylish and the characters of three Vijay will be unique. How two sons come together to take revenge for the death of their dad is the basic one-liner of the film,” said a source in the know.

Nithya Menon plays dad Vijay’s pair while Samantha and Kajal Aggarwal will be seen pairing opposite the two sons. Director turned actor SJ Suryah plays the villain in Thalapathy 61, and it also has veteran actors including Sathyaraj, Vadivelu and Kovai Sarala in important roles. AR Rahman is scoring the music for this yet-untitled film, which is slated for Diwali 2017 release.
