I Don't Let It Affect Me Now: Vivek Oberoi On His Row With Salman Khan

Actor Vivek Oberoi has grown calmer over the years. When you mention the famous fight which happened between him and Salman Khan in 2003, he doesn’t get worked up and answers lightly. He says that over the years he has learnt to laugh over the matter. “Such questions don’t bother me now and I don’t let it affect me at all in any way. You have to be able to laugh at life, and at yourself. If you take life too seriously, there is nothing more disastrous,” says Vivek, who had accused Salman of threatening to kill him owing to his then relationship with actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Vivek, who has worked in successful films such as Saathiya (2002), Yuva(2004), Company(2002) and Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007), went off the winning streak at the box office during a phase of his career. However, this is not the perception he has towards himself.

“I don’t believe in analytics. I believe in real life and making choices every day and if I start to spend time analysing my choices, I can’t live peacefully. Success or failure is very relative. I believe that if I had failed post Shootout..., I wouldn’t have been around and done films such as Krrish 3 and Grand Masti,” says Vivek, who will be seen next in a web series. Not letting what people say about him and his movies, Vivek says he follows a simple mantra. “As long as my phone keeps ringing and people keep saying that ‘Hey, I want to cast you in a role’ I am successful,” he quips.
