TV Today Is Only About TRP's Rather Than Quality: Aman Verma

He has done it all, be it fiction genre or hosting shows or being part of reality shows. He is also best remembered for his movies like Sangharsh and Baghban. However, actor Aman Verma feels that reality shows such as ‘Big Boss’ do more harm than good to actors.

“I have done it all and at this point of time I’m happy with the body of work I have done in my career so far. And I enjoy all genres. But I believe TV has a vast reach, so today again I’m more than happy to be a part of a show which focuses the good deeds of our police force,” says Aman who was in Lucknow to promote his new show---an upcoming crime series.

Talking about the present TV content, he adds, “It’s sad that today TV content is only TRP driven and has nothing to do with quality. This was not the case a decade back. This is the prime reason why shows from across the borders are being appreciated more which is an absolutely a sad situation.”

“Reality shows like ‘Big Boss’ don’t take you anywhere as an actor. I mean if participants think that they have to yell and scream to gain popularity, this can just give them a temporary fame and a short-lived limelight. That’s the reason why I chose to be real because if you have a particular fan following, you just can’t let them down,” Aman feels.

“I’m happy that during my stint I did appear as a straight forward person because that’s what I am. Plus, I was not there with an agenda like many were at that point of time,” the Baghban actor claims.

On if he enjoyed food of the city of nawabs, the actor says, “Earlier, when I was a little heavier, I used to look much older. Today, I look younger and people usually say that I’m on a reverse cycle. All said and done, I have always been a very health conscious guy. I eat a fixed diet and live on a set clock with five times a week workout sessions. So no food, however tasty or mouth-watering it may be, can attract me.”

On his latest series and other projects, he says, “As of now, my new show ‘Khaki Ek Vachan’ on Big Magic is a unique offering which pays tribute to the hardworking police officers of our nation. I’m from the army background and I completely understand the concept. Through its compelling storyline, the show will showcase the deeds and real life stories of the officials who fight for justice. As far as other projects are concerned, I’m on talks for a few films. Let’s hope all work out well in coming days.”
