Working on Bajirao Mastani is a homelike experience for Deepika

Deepika Padukone has been on and off shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ambitious project Bajirao Mastani. The schedule of the film has faced several delays with either of the three lead actors (Deepika, Ranveer and Priyanka) missing. With Priyanka shooting abroad for her ABC show Quantico, a long schedule was set up in Rajasthan. While Ranveer had been shooting for a while, Deepika just joined in later. What surprised her most was the familiar ambience she felt at the set.

After having worked in Bhansali’s previous ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-Leela’, the unit of Bajirao Mastani is exactly the same. The similar atmosphere made Deepika so comfortable that she felt like home. A source close to the production revealed, “Deepika is working with the same team that worked on Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-Leela (2013). From the director to the assistant directors and the other crew members, they’re all the same.”

The source also added that the actress doesn’t shy away from hanging out with the unit after the shoot gets over. “Working with the same team that was part of her successful release means a lot to her. Besides, they now share a certain level of comfort. She met this team after a long gap. So, every day after the shoot, they would hang out”, says the source. Based on the famous love saga of Maratha warrior Bajirao, Ranveer and Deepika play the title roles while Priyanka Chopra plays his first wife Kashibai.
