Holi celebration at the Bachchan house is a high-profile affair every year with several Bollywood heavyweights in attendance. But 2017 will most likely see a major departure from the tradition, as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s father Krishnaraj Rai is battling for life in the Intensive Care Unit of Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital.

Admitted two weeks ago, he was shifted to the ICU recently. “Aishwarya’s father Krishnaraj Rai has been admitted to Lilavati Hospital in suburban Bandra,” Aishwarya’s publicist said on Thursday. The publicist, however, did not share any further details.

An Indian Express report quoted a source as saying that Aishwarya’s dad is likely to be suffering from a recurrence of cancer. He was supposed to be discharged after a two-week stay in the hospital, but has now been shifted to the ICU, it added.

India.com quoted a source as saying, “The family is under immense stress and that’s why they have decided to not celebrate Holi. They will only indulge in the customary Holika Pooja but not play with colours the next day. The entire khandaan is upset and in great tension over his health.”
