Studiocanal’s upcoming flick titled 'Rio' is trying to rope in Doctor Strange star Benedict Cumberbatch and Southpaw star Jake Gyllenhaal. If the talks follow through, Jake will play the role of a financial reporter while Cumberbatch will play his wealthy friend. The movie will be directed by Luca Guadagnino of ‘A Bigger Splash’ fame.

The project will be bankrolled by Studiocanal, Gyllenhaal’s Nine Stories Productions, Cumberbatch’s Sunny March production company along with Adam Ackland. Riva Marker will also be producing the film. Studiocanal also has plans for taking ‘Rio’ to Cannes Film Festival to approach the international market.

The ‘Nightcrawler’ actor has completed his Broadway play ‘Sundays in the Park’. He has a couple more projects coming out this year which include Bong Joon-ho’s ‘Okja’, premiering at Cannes and David Gordon Green’s ‘Stronger’, which will hit theatres on September 22. On the other hand, the Sherlock actor was last seen in the Marvel flick ‘Doctor Strange’ and will next be seen in ‘The Current War’ releasing on December 22.
