    A new big-screen version of Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas will have Benedict Cumberbatch voice the Christmas hating Grinch. The movie will be titled ‘The Grinch’ and will hit the screens on November 10 next year. It will developed by the animation studio, Illumination, which previously made ‘Despicable Me’.

    Benedict is known for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes in the British series. He was last seen in ‘Black Mass’ which starred Johnny Depp. ‘The Imitation Game’ actor will also be seen in and as ‘Doctor Strange’ which will be released on November 4. According to producer Chris Meledandri, Benedict’s voice has a “comedic wickedness while embodying vulnerability”, which will be perfect for the character of the Grinch.

    ‘The Grinch’ will be directed by Pete Candeland and Yarrow Cheney, and written by Michael LeSieur. The original tale was released in 2000 and had Jim Carrey play the titular character. It was directed by Ron Howard.
