    Dancing With Wolves writer Michael Blake dies at 69

    Michael Blake who won an Oscar for writing ‘90s hit film Dancing With Wolves has passed away. He was 69. His manager and producing partner Daniel Ostroff, confirmed the news. He is survived by his wife, Marianne, and their three children.

    Blake died peacefully at his home in Tuscon, Arizona. The writer succumbed to illness after fighting a long battle. He wrote Dancing With Wolves in 1988. The book sold more than 3.5 million copies and was translated in 15 different languages. He most recently worked on a screenplay based on German novel Winnetou, for Constantin Films in 2011.

    The big screen adaptation of the Dancing With Wolves was released in 1990, directed by and starring Kevin Costner. The film won 6 Oscars, along with best screenplay. The movie was a huge commercial success as well as garnered critical acclaim. His other novels include Airman Mortensen, Indian Yell, Marching to Valhalla, Twelve The King, and Like A Running Dog.
