The sequel to the 1996 drug-fueled black comedy Trainspotting has been in talks for a long time. Now director Danny Boyle has confirmed that his next project will be Trainspotting 2. The official name for the film is currently unknown.

According to Deadline, Boyle said, “All the four main actors want to come back and do it. Now it is only a matter of getting all their schedules together, which is complicated by two of them doing American TV series”. The director also revealed that the second part will be based on the sequel of Porno, a novel by Irvine Welsh.

Trainspotting starred Ewan McGregor, Johny Lee Miller, Irvine Welsh, Kelly Macdonald, Robert Carlyle and Ewen Bremner. The movie was based on a group of heroin addicts in the late 1980’s in Edinburgh. Along with drug addiction, the movie tackles issues urban poverty and immorality in an economically depressed area.
