Machete actor Danny Trejo has teamed up with Ice Garden director Brett Harvey to develop a biopic titled ‘Inmate #1: The Rise of Danny Trejo’. As the name suggests, the movie will tell the life story of Hollywood’s most unlikely hero, Danny Trejo. Over the years, the actor has made a name for himself in the industry but, it wasn’t always like that. His early life involved drugs, armed robbery and hard prison time.

‘Inmate #1: The Rise of Danny Trejo’ will be executive produced by Trejo himself, alongside Adam Scorgie, Craig Balkam, Iliana Nikolic and Rocky Mudaliar. Adam spoke about the actor and explained, “Today, Danny Trejo is temperate, benevolent and likely one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. But he wasn’t always this way”.

He also shared some details on Trejo’s early life and revealed that at the age of 12, he had tried heroin. At the age of 15, he went to his first jail cell. When the actor was 23 years old, he was sent to prison for selling a $30,000 bag of heroin to an undercover agent. After being released in 1969, he turned his life around, working as a boxing coach. He got his first break when he was hired to train Eric Roberts for Andrei Konchalovsky’s ‘Runaway Train’ (1985).
