Emily Blunt To Play Mary Poppins?
The Hollywood Reporter has stated that Emily Blunt is in talks with Walt Disney Pictures for the Mary Poppins sequel. The actress is known for her roles in Sicario and Edge of Tomorrow. The original Mary Poppins starred Julie Andrews in the film which came out in 1964.
Mary Poppins originated from the children’s book by P.L. Travers. It told the story of a nanny who joins a British family named the Banks. The movie was based in 1910 and the sequel is expected to be set in the 1930s. The sequel was initially announced last fall and it was stated that the story will have elements from the eight books by the author.
Rob Marshall will be directing the Mary Poppins sequel. Rob has previously worked with Emily in the film Into the Woods. The movie will be produced by John DeLuca and Marc Platt. They also worked with Rob on Into the Woods.
