    Filmmaker Richard Linklater to be honoured at Gotham Independent Film Awards

    The upcoming 2013 Gotham Independent Film Awards organisers have announced that the indie genius Richard Linklater will receive the prestigious kudos’ annual director tribute at the ceremony.

    The filmmaker-screenwriter will share the stage with Katherine Oliver, the commissioner of the New York City Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, who will be honoured with the Gothams’ industry tribute. A couple of more honourees’ names are yet to be announced by the ceremony organisers. The tributes are presented by the New York-based non-profit Independent Filmmaker Project.

    Linklater is a critically acclaimed name in the industry who offered his brilliant work Before Midnight earlier this year, which was the third part in a trilogy of films. The series began with Before Sunrise in 1995 followed by Before Sunset in 2004. His extraordinary works, which have helped him score the Gotham tribute, also includes his 1993 film Dazed and Confused. It was also set for a special anniversary screening at this year’s New York Film Festival. His other memorable works are Slacker, School of Rock, A Scanner Darkly and Bernie. Linklater will join the club of other honourees like David Cronenberg, Mira Nair and David O. Russell. The event will take place on December 2 at Cipriani Wall Street in Manhattan.
