Finding Dory Beats The legend of Tarzan At The Box Office

Angus MacLane and Andrew Stanton’s animated flick ‘Finding Dory’ has secured the top spot at the weekend box office with its $41 million. The movie has been running successfully for 3 weeks and has pooled in a total of $538 million worldwide. The lead character of Dory has been voiced by Ellen DeGeneres.

The recently released ‘The Legend of Tarzan’ could not beat ‘Finding Dory’ with its weekend earnings of $38 million. The movie saw an opening weekend of $56 million worldwide. It stars Alexander Skarsgård, Margot Robbie and Christoph Waltz, along with others. James DeMonaco’s sci-fi thriller ‘The Purge: Election Year’ also released alongside Tarzan and pooled in $30 million. The movie stars Frank Grillo and Elizabeth Mitchell.

‘The BFG’ saw an opening weekend of $19 million in the U.S. with a total of $23 million worldwide. Directed by Steven Spielberg, the movie stars Rebecca Hall and Bill Hader. The Big Friendly Giant has been voiced by Mark Rylance. Making its way to the top five was ‘Independence Day: Resurgence’. The movie grossed $16.5 million, making the worldwide collection hit $249 million.
