G.I. Joe: Retaliation tops on box office grossing $320 million overseas

G.I. Joe: Retaliation, a sequel of sci-fi action filmG.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra,has beaten the record of its previous release and has earned a total of $320 million globally. With $40 million from 62 foreign markets, the flick has marked itself as no. 1 in its second week with Tom Cruise’sOblivionremaining at no. 2 position.

The film directed by Jon M. Chu, hasDwayneJohnson andBruce Willis, whose action stunts have glommed the audience. This Paramount picture has not earned much in North America. Just $111 million was fetched from the domestic cinemas, but the foreign markets have earned it two-thirds of its revenue. Paramount's decision to convert it to a 3D movie by delaying the film by nine months from last June has worked wonders commercially.

With the success of the 2^ndinstallment ofG.I. Joe, the studio has decided to move for its thirds sequel. Right now,DwayneJohnson is working onPain & Gain, Fast & Furious 6, Empire State,releasing in 2013 andFast & Furious 7andHercules: The Thracian Warsis to head the theatres in 2014.
