    Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘The Shape of Water’ Won Top Award At Producers Guild Awards

    Guillermo Del Toro, who made fantastical romance ‘The Shape of Water’, won Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures at the Producers Guild Awards. However, Del Toro was not present at the award ceremony due to the health of his father. Guillermo’s film competitive against 10 films this year including ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’, which won big at the Golden Globes earlier this month, ‘Lady Bird’, ‘Get Out’, ‘Dunkirk’, ‘The Post’, ‘Call Me By Your Name’, ‘The Big Sick’, ‘I, Tonya’, ‘Wonder Woman’ and ‘Molly’s Game’.

    Jordan Peele’s ‘Get Out’ though did not win any award but got a special mention. Peele also won the Stanley Kramer Award. Presenters at the event included Timothee Chalamet, Christopher Nolan, Margot Robbie, Patty Jenkins, Tom Hanks, Reese Witherspoon, Mary J. Blige, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kerry Washington, Morgan Freeman and Greta Gerwig.

    Disney and Pixar’s ‘Coco’ won best-animated feature, while Morgen’s Jane Goodall film ‘Jane’ won the best documentary. In television, ‘The Handmaids Tale’ won the best drama series, ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ won best comedy series and ‘Last Week Tonight With John Oliver’ won best TV variety series. ‘Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath’ won the award for nonfiction television.
